Bring，take，carry，fetch這四個詞都是動詞，都含有"帶"或"拿"的意思，但意思和語用卻不同。

很多人搞不清楚bring和take。會說出:

(X) Do you take your passport?

(O) I will bring you to the hospital.

Bring和take都是"帶"，但方向不同。Bring作"帶來"、"拿來"解； take剛好和bring相對，作"帶去"、"拿去"解。
Bring是接近的方向，take是遠離。
你有沒有帶證件？問這句話的人，在意的是你有沒有把證件帶來，是接近的概念。所以是：
Do you bring your passport?
我帶你去醫院。說這話時，你多半不在醫院，所以是離開的概念。
I'll take you to the hospital.
再參考幾個例句：
Next year you may bring your family over from the US.
明年你可以把你的家人從美國帶來。
Why don't you bring your girl friend to the party？
你為什麼不把你的女友帶來參加宴會？
Next time don't forget to bring me a copy of your work.
下次不要忘了把一份你的作品帶給我。
Please take these books to the library for me.
請幫我把這些書帶到圖書館。
Take the box away, please.
請把盒子拿走。

Carry表示"運載"、"攜帶"之意，運送的方式很多，可以用車、船，也可以用手甚至用頭；fetch則表示"去拿來"（go and bring）的意思。例：
This bus is licensed to carry 100 passengers.
這輛巴士規定乘載一百人。
Please fetch me the documents in that room.
請到那間房間去把那些檔案拿來給我。

Take that box and bring it with you, or if it is too heavy for you to carry it, I'll send John to fetch it.
