在不久前的一次教學腦力激盪的會議中，外籍老師寫下五個他們認為中文人口最容易犯的錯。

1. (X) 'Definitely, I'll call you tomorrow'   (O) 'I'll definitely call you tomorrow'
2. (X) 'It's really a beautiful city'             (O) 'It's a really beautiful city'
3. (X)'He should make efforts'                (O)'He should make an effort'
4. (X) 'How to say...'                             (O) 'How can I put it/What's the word'
5. "How about..." -American use this as a follow-up question but Chinese often start a question like this. For example, our conversation may go like: 

A: "What ice-cream do you like?"
B: "I love chocolate ice-cream!"
A: "How about strawberry?"
B: "I love strawberry ice-cream, too!" 

But my students often say, "How about you like the ice cream?"
